Doctor And The Medics

Doctor And The Medics
Spirit In The Sky
Clive Jackson (aka The Doctor) formed the group back in 1981 The group adopted a look taken from 1960s psychedelia and kabuki make up ..very similar to that of rock band Kiss.
After a few minor chart successes they hit the big time with an international hit in 1986 a cover of Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky". The single soon climbed to the number one spot here in the UK.
In the early 2000s, the band's current line-up appeared on British TV in a retro-themed show called 'Hit Me Baby One More Time', where acts from yester-year are given another shot at fame. They also appeared on a Top of the Pops Christmas special celebrating 50 years of the UK Chart Single.

In 2003, Jackson left the UK to live in Mexico, but frequently returning to the UK to work. In June 2006, the band appeared on Channel 4's Bring Back One Hit Wonders. And it was around this time that they also released an EP called 'Time warped'.
In 2008, Jackson decided that there's no place like home and returned to live back in the UK.

Today the Medics are in huge demand on the festivals circuit in the UK
and Europe.

Current line-up is …

The Doctor (vocals)
Adrian Hill (drums)
Dan Angelow (guitar)
Jon Randle (bass)
Melissa Weekes (backing vocals)
